Overview

The Accounting Manager reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and is responsible for the supervision, tracking and accountability of day-to-day accounting activities. Additionally, the Accounting Manager's responsibilities include developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting. As a key member of the accounting and finance team, the Accounting Manager will work closely with the management team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles. The candidate needs to bring proven experience in financial reporting, managerial accounting, Team training and development, and financial planning skills. To be successful, the person who is in this role must be an excellent cross-functional collaborator with a high sense of urgency, excellent time management skills, and have a strong sense of accountability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting team.
  • Overseee inventory accounting.
  • Owning month/quarter/year end close procedures
  • Manage all aspects of the general ledger and provide support to the international sub-divisions.
  • Develop and execute roadmap for implementing/improving processes and controls to scale the accounting function.
  • Develop strategy for future systems implementation.
  • Hire, manage, and coach a strong, performance-oriented accounting organization, capable of growing with the business.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on implementation of accounting policies and the accounting for complex transactions.
  • Oversee audits and Tax Returns and proactively communicate with auditors on accounting for complex transactions.
  • Oversee and own the month/quarter/year end close processes, and review accounting team's work.
  • Ability to be highly transactional - willing to roll up the sleeves and dive into AR and AP processing issues as needed.
  • Assist with ad-hoc duties as needed.

Key Interfaces

This position works in partnership with the Financial Reporting, Planning, and Analysis team member and CFO. Additionally, the position interacts with all cross-functional areas and requires communication, collaboration and relationship-building skills with internal US and global stake holders. Key interfaces throughout the organization include Executive Leadership Team, Directors and Regional General Managers.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Should have both public & private accounting experience in a progressively responsible financial leadership role.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Must have strong understanding of GAAP, operational accounting, and technical accounting.
  • Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to research issues, evaluate problems & propose effective solutions to executive management.
  • Experience with inventory is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced excel skills (i.e., Vlookups, Sumifs, Index & match, Pivot tables).
  • Microsoft Business Central and Navision ERP (preferred), or similar software experience.
  • Ability to work outside of normal hours as needed to meet deadlines.
  • Strong written & communication skills.
  • Self-starter with strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
